Stockout Guard Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026
Stockout Guard (“the app”, “we”) is a Shopify app that forecasts when products will run out of stock and how much to reorder. This policy explains what data the app accesses when a merchant installs it, how that data is used, and how long it is kept.
Data we collect
When you install the app, we access the following through Shopify’s API:
- Store details: your store’s domain and the access token Shopify issues to the app.
- Product data: product and variant titles, SKUs, prices, unit costs, whether inventory is tracked, available inventory quantities and the date each variant was created.
- Order data: for each order line, the order ID, line item ID, variant ID, quantity and order date. Cancelled orders are not kept.
- Settings you enter: supplier lead time, safety buffer, reorder cover period and sales window.
We do not collect or store your customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, payment details or customer IDs. We do not place cookies or tracking scripts on your storefront.
How we use it
The data is used only to calculate selling speed, days of stock left, stockout dates and reorder quantities, and to show them to you inside the Shopify admin. We do not sell, rent or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising or to train machine learning models.
Where it is stored
The app relies on these service providers to run:
- Google Cloud Run (United States): hosts the app.
- Neon (PostgreSQL on Amazon Web Services, United States): stores the data listed above.
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted at rest by our database provider. Access is limited to what is needed to operate and support the app.
How long we keep it
- Order lines are deleted automatically once they are older than 60 days.
- Product data and settings are kept while the app is installed and updated as they change in Shopify.
- When you uninstall the app, all data for your store is deleted. If anything remains, it is removed when Shopify sends its store-deletion request 48 hours later.
Your rights and your customers’ rights
You can ask us at any time what data we hold for your store, or ask us to delete it. Because the app stores no personal information about your customers, customer data requests and deletion requests that Shopify forwards to us have no customer data to return or erase. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, move or erase your personal data; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data the app collects or how it is used, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
